Our Story
The founder of Be The 1 To Stand, Alan Herman, did not expect his life to change five years ago sitting in a room, with about 26 people including 5 other guys, listening to the story of a sex trafficking survivor who survived four years of Rape and Abuse as a child from age 11 to 15.
He was overcome with the realization that the men abusing these children were regular men. Businessmen, religious men, family men; essentially every man in the room. There would be no sex trafficking if there was no demand for it, and the demand is coming from us. It was a heartbreaking and life-changing realization.
In 2020, Be The 1 To Stand was created so that men around the world could take a stand against human trafficking. There are organizations and groups working toward rehabilitating survivors and preventing children from falling into risky situations, but there was more work to be done in reducing the demand. Our organization is based on starting the conversation with men and doing what we can to be proactive and stop human trafficking at the source, rather than being reactive after abuse occurs.
Now, our organization is working toward connecting men, some of whom were survivors of abuse themselves, to resources and providing information that can help to heal them and stop the cycle of abuse. Our focus is on providing more education and awareness to men, as well as bringing resources and therapy to those who need it.
Mission Statement
Our organization exists for one reason, to keep children safe in the world.
Safe from being kidnapped.
Safe from being trafficked.
Safe from being raped.
Safe from being sold into slavery.
We believe that the sex trafficking (rape) of children is demand driven and that the demand is coming from men. We also believe that men are key to stopping this abuse.
As men, it is in our DNA to protect our families
especially our children.
Our very nature has been altered, to the point where it has become OK to rape other men’s children. Our goal is to discover the reasons why we as men make these choices, powerfully deal with these discoveries and then empower each other to make a different choice and return to protecting our families.

Be The 1 To Stand operates on the belief that men must be the ones to stand against the abuse that these children are experiencing. If all men say, “Enough,” then this will end.
We are the ones doing it, so we must be the ones to stop it.
Reducing Demand
Men are the key to stopping human trafficking.
Like many economic propositions, the law of supply and demand applies. If there is no demand for trafficked child sex workers, there will be no more supply. We believe that men have a natural instinct through fatherhood to protect all children and families, but that instinct has been lost. Somewhere along the way, it became “OK” for Men to rape their own children and for one man to rape another man’s child without a second thought. It’s not OK.
While it is no excuse, there is a trend for sexual abuse survivors to become abusers themselves. If you have experienced this, the healing and therapy that you can receive may help to stop this cycle.

By combining our efforts, we can create a 360 approach that can become a unified front that works more efficiently and can band together in the fight to end sex trafficking once and for all.
